The Collect for Ash Wednesday.
Almighty and Everlasting God,
who hatest nothing that thou hast made,
and dost forgive the sins of all them that are penitent:
Create and make in us new and contrite hearts,
that we worthily lamenting our sins,
and acknowledging our wretchedness,
may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy,
perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

agus a tha ‘ maitheadh am peacaidhean dhoibhsan uile a tha aithreach ;

O God, you called your servant Columba
from among the princes of his land
to be a herald and evangelist
of your kingdom:
grant that your Church,
remembering his faith and courage,
may so proclaim the gospel
that people everywhere will come to know
your Son as Saviour,
and serve him as their King;
who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
now and for ever. Amen.
