I’m excited to hear about the ‘pop-up’ service that took place last week in Blackwaterfoot on Arran. The congregation of St Margaret’s Whiting Bay took the bold step of holding a service of Holy Communion in the Kinloch Hotel. The Rev’d Simon Mackenzie presided and 11 folk attended including two people not regular members. One member described it as follows: really inspiring – it was special to take Communion sitting round a table in a hotel with a morning roll from the dining room and a glass of red from the bar, really brought it to life. Another service is planned and the hope is that more people will be attracted to join in.
This initiative is not of course intended to replace Sunday worship in Whiting Bay but what a brilliant way to experience the Eucharist anew and to be visible as Christians in the community. Evangelism pisky-style!
