Bellringers marked the licensing of Father Simon Mackenzie as new Priest in Charge of the mid-Argyll Episcopal churches by ringing a peal on All Saints, Inveraray bells on Saturday 23 November. Father Simon was officially licensed at a service in Lochgilphead on Monday 25 November. Ruth Marshall, Ringing Master of Inveraray bells said, “We like to record special events when peal attempts are made on the bells. The installation of a new Priest is something that doesn’t happen very often. We are pleased that Father Simon will be starting his ministry in the area which includes All Saints, Inveraray.”
The bells of All Saints are the second heaviest ring of ten bells in the whole of the UK. Their melodic sound needs to be heard to be appreciated.
